Short reps

Anything more than 15 reps is too much if you want to build muscle. Over 15 reps is more for muscle toning. If you are using heavy weights then 15 reps is near impossible once you get to the later stages of a set as it should be if you are increasing the weight as you go.

Short training sessions

Some people fret that they need to stay in the gym for hours to see results. This couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, longer workouts can result in less gains than a short high intensity workout. You can train for less than an hour if you focus on a pyramid workout routine. That is, quickly increasing the weight between each set until you work to muscle failure. When the muscles can not lift anymore is when the gains start happening. Over time your maximum weight should increase.

Take time off regularly

A routine of 8 weeks on, 1 week off is what many people do. That one week of rest allows muscle recovery and allows you to start off again with completely fresh muscles, resulting in renewed energy and hopefully more gains.
